Orkney Isles Preserves

Using only the finest of quality ingredients

Orkney Isles Preserves is a small family run business based on the Orkney island of Shapinsay. We specialise in producing fine quality jams, marmalades and chutneys using traditional recipes handed down through the generations.

We pride ourselves on using only the finest of quality ingredients and, wherever possible, we try to source these in Orkney.

Our business was launched in 1986 with just three products, all based on old family recipes. The business quickly outgrew our family kitchen and, since 2001, we’ve operated from a specially converted bothy on our farm, using electricity from our own wind turbine. We now produce over three tonnes of jam and chutney a year, with 30 different varieties in our range. Traditional preserves are always in demand, but our more unusual creations – such as blueberry flavoured with the Orkney Wine Company’s Black Portent – have also proved extremely popular.

We supply local wholesaler James Wilson Orkney Ltd, who then distributes our products throughout the islands. We also supply Judith Glue’s Kirkwall and Inverness shops, with our preserves featuring in the firm’s range of mail order hampers.
