Food and drink producers from Orkney will take centre stage at a major trade show in Glasgow this weekend.
Five Orkney Food and Drink members will be travelling to Scotland’s Speciality Food Show at the SEC, which runs between the 21st and 23rd of January.
Scotland’s Speciality Food Show sees 130 companies exhibiting their products, from cheese, cooked meats and chutneys; to baked goods, beers and spirits. Thousands of buyers from shops, restaurants and hotels across the country are expected to attend over the weekend.
Project Manager for Orkney Food and Drink, Edgar Balfour, said: “Trips to these kinds of events are vitally important to the producers and the promotion of Orkney’s food and drink as a whole. It gives the individual businesses a platform to present their products to potential buyers, and showcases the range of quality food and drink we have on offer in the islands. We’re all looking forward to another busy and successful weekend.”
The Orkney companies will exhibit their products on specially designed Orkney stands, with their presence supported by Orkney Islands Council and Highlands and Islands Enterprise through the Orkney Marketing programme.
They'll be joined in Glasgow by eight Orkney Crafts Association members at Scotland's Trade Fair, which is run at the same time as the Food Show.
The Digital Orkney project has been part financed by the Scottish Government and the European Community Orkney LEADER 2014-2020 Programme.
