Four people will be selected to pit their culinary skills against one another at September’s event, which is being sponsored by Jewson and NorthLink Ferries.
The contest follows last year’s hugely popular Orkney Professional Master Chef competition, won by the Foveran’s Roddy Belford.
Hosted by BBC Radio Orkney’s Dave Gray and Robbie Fraser, the 2015 competition will be staged in the Orkney Theatre on 30 September.
Orkney Food and Drink’s Edgar Balfour said: “Whilst we’ve already received a good number of entries for the competition, we’re keen to encourage as many folk as possible from throughout Orkney to put their names forward for consideration. Our hope is that we’ll have a sizeable pool from which to select our final four contestants, so we’d urge anyone who might still be thinking about entering to take the leap and apply.”
This year’s all-ticket event will end with some lucky audience members getting the chance to sample the dishes, with the winning chef being awarded the title of Orkney Amateur Master Chef 2015 by a panel of expert judges.
Peter Hutchinson, Senior Manager Vessel Support Services at NorthLink Ferries said: “We are very pleased to be sponsoring this year’s competition. The event is a fantastic opportunity for local island foodies and culinary enthusiasts to put their skills to the test and we look forward to seeing the results. Good luck to all of the entrants.”
