Activities

Here you'll find details of all the activities and events involving OFD members.

Sadly our next six planned events, The Orkney Folk Festival in Stromness, The St Magnus Festival in Kirkwall, The Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh, both the Dounby and County Shows here in Orkney and the rescheduled Farm Shop & Deli Show, have all been cancelled due to COVID19. Deeply concerning times for everyone but hopefully things will get back to normal as soon as possible. Sorry if you had planned to come and see us at these events.

Great food and drink is part of everyday life in Orkney, but throughout the year many special events take place – from the Orkney Folk Festival and world-renowned St Magnus Festival and the Orkney Science Festival, to our busy local agricultural shows and farmers’ markets – with local produce always available to try or buy.

During the year OFD members also attend key trade shows throughout the country, including the Scotland’s Speciality Food Show and the Royal Highland Show, flying the flag for the Orkney brand and introducing their products to new customers.

All local activities carried out by Orkney Food & Drink are supported by our main sponsor NorthLink Ferries. With NorthLink Ferries, travelling to Orkney and Shetland is more convenient than ever before. Choose from up to three sailings a day from Scrabster (near Thurso) to Stromness in Orkney and nightly sailings from Aberdeen to Lerwick in Shetland – with four of these sailings going via Orkney’s capital, Kirkwall. www.northlinkferries.co.uk
