Here you'll find details of all the activities and events involving OFD members.
The next event on our busy calendar is the Country Living Fair in Glasgow's SEC on 21st to 24th November. Ten food & drink members attending this busy retail show. There will also be eight businesses representing Orkney's Creative sector, as well as a VisitOrkney presence.
Great food and drink is part of everyday life in Orkney, but throughout the year many special events take place – from the Orkney Folk Festival and world-renowned St Magnus Festival and the Orkney Science Festival, to our busy local agricultural shows and farmers’ markets – with local produce always available to try or buy.
During the year OFD members also attend key trade shows throughout the country, including the Scotland’s Speciality Food Show and the Royal Highland Show, flying the flag for the Orkney brand and introducing their products to new customers.
All local activities carried out by Orkney Food & Drink are supported by our main sponsor NorthLink Ferries. With NorthLink Ferries, travelling to Orkney and Shetland is more convenient than ever before. Choose from up to three sailings a day from Scrabster (near Thurso) to Stromness in Orkney and nightly sailings from Aberdeen to Lerwick in Shetland – with four of these sailings going via Orkney’s capital, Kirkwall. www.northlinkferries.co.uk
Country Living Fair
The second year of our joint attendance at this event with our friends in the Creative sector. After the successful inaugural attendance in 2018, even more members are already signed up to go in 2019 - with others sure to follow. It will be one of the biggest Orkney stands of recent years. Assisted by LEADER we will have at least nine OFD Members attending. These are: Orkney Bakery, Deerness Distillery, Island Smokery, J Gow Rum, Orkney Distilling, Orkney Gin Co, Orkney Wine, Stockans Oatcakes and The Westray Bakehouse. Come along and buy your unique Christmas gift for that special person.
