Orkney heads for the Royal Highland Show

Five Orkney Food and Drink companies will be showcasing their products at the Royal Highland Show this week.

The event at Ingliston in Edinburgh is one of the biggest celebrations of farming, food and rural life in Europe and attracted nearly 200,000 people last year.

Orkney will be represented in the new look food hall by the Island Smokery, the Orkney Bakery, Orkney Cheese, Orkney Creamery and Stockans. They’ll all be on hand to offer tasters and testers from their range, as well as bringing their award-winning local products to a wider market.

Orkney Food and Drink Development Manager, Edgar Balfour, said ‘The Royal Highland Show is one of the main annual events for Orkney Food and Drink. Food plays a central role throughout the week at Ingliston and it’s the perfect opportunity for our members to promote their various products. Working together also highlights the strength in depth of quality food and drink in Orkney and we’re all looking forward to a busy few days.’

The Royal Highland Show runs between the 23rd and 26th of June.
