More success for local breweries

The Orkney Brewery's range of products The Orkney Brewery's range of products Orkney’s two local breweries are celebrating after claiming a number of awards at a national beer competition in Glasgow.

The Orkney Brewery and the Swannay Brewery came home from the SIBA Scotland Region event on the 13th of November with a share of five medals.

The team at Swannay took gold in the Premium Bitter and Pale Ale category for its Pale Ale. The brewery also claimed silver medals for its Duke IPA and Orkney Blast.

Development Manager for Orkney Food and Drink, Edgar Balfour, said: ‘Both local breweries have once again shown that the beers they're producing here in Orkney are amongst the very best in Scotland. It also highlights the commitment and skill both teams bring to their businesses. It's great to see products made in the islands continue to make such a positive impression at competitions and with customers around the country’.
