A brand new category has been added to this year’s Orkney Food and Drink Awards, aimed at showcasing the very best customer service in the islands.
Orkney Food and Drink members serving products to the public People casting their votes over the coming months will now be able to put forward their nominations for ‘Outstanding Customer Service’ from Orkney Food and Drink members that regularly deal with members of the public and visitors.
Orkney is currently pushing to gain WorldHost destination status, seen as the gold standard for customer service. It’s hoped this new award will eventually encourage more businesses to sign up and help the islands claim official WorldHost accreditation.
Enjoy Orkney's food and drink at our historic sites The Orkney Food and Drink Awards recognise the best in local produce and help promote the huge range and quality of food and drink on offer in the county. The new category now means there are 16 awards up for grabs at the event scheduled for the autumn.
‘We decided to launch the new category to highlight how vital good customer service is,’ said Development Manager for Orkney Food and Drink, Edgar Balfour. ‘It’s such an important part of a customer’s experience. We have some of the very best produce here in Orkney but if the quality of service isn’t up to scratch then it can ruin the whole experience for the consumer. Hopefully this category – along with the WorldHost drive – will show how crucial excellent customer service is.’
