Visitors to Stromness during the Orkney Folk Festival on Saturday 27th May will get the chance to sample some of the finest food and drink from across the islands.
A number of Orkney Food and Drink members will be manning stalls at the town’s pierhead to help keep hungry audience members and musicians happy.
Taking part will be Greentoft Farm Produce, Orkney Fishermen’s Society, Orkney Isles Preserves and Peedie Chocs and Desserts. Visitors to the stalls will get the chance to sample jams and chutneys, fresh fish and shellfish, delicious sweet treats and traditional Orkney baking.
For the second year in a row the Swannay Brewery will be providing bottles of its popular ‘Orkney Session’ ale during the weekend too. The beer will also be available on draft in the Stromness pubs over the weekend. Ten pence from every bottle sold will go to the Orkney Folk Festival.
Development Manager for Orkney Food and Drink, Edgar Balfour, said ‘Events like the Orkney Folk Festival provide the perfect opportunity for some of our members to showcase their products to visitors from around the world.’
‘The mood in Stromness during Folk Festival Saturday is always very vibrant and we look forward to welcoming plenty of people keen to grab a taste of Orkney during their visit.’
