If you’ve had an outstanding culinary experience in Orkney over the summer holidays then the organisers of the 2016 Orkney Food and Drink Awards would like to hear from you.
The nomination period for the biennial event, sponsored by NorthLink Ferries, closes at noon on Tuesday 23rd August with sixteen awards up for grabs.
You can put forward your favourite businesses and producers for categories including best evening meal, best local food retailer and outstanding customer service.
Organisers will then compile a shortlist of nominations ahead of the main event, which will be held in Stromness Academy on Saturday 15th October.
‘We re-launched the awards in 2014 to recognise the very best of local produce and to highlight the huge range and quality on offer in the islands,’ said Orkney Food and Drink Development Manager, Edgar Balfour.
‘We’ve already attracted more votes than ever with in excess of 3,500 nominations, but we want to make sure as many people as possible get involved in what will be a great showcase for Orkney’s food and drink sector.’
Around eighty businesses are involved this year and you can vote via the Orkney Food and Drink website until Tuesday at 12pm. The shortlist for each category will be published online soon after, along with details on how to obtain tickets for the gala event.
