Amateur Master Chef Competitors Announced

The final line-up for the Orkney Amateur Master Chef 2015 competition has been announced. Four talented local chefs were selected at random live on BBC Radio Orkney this morning.

Erica Clarkson, Kerry Leask, Ray Patterson (replaced by Caroline Critchlow) and Firdosh Shaikh are the lucky locals who will now go head to head at the event, sponsored by Jewson and NorthLink Ferries, later this month.

They'll each have to prepare a three course meal, using the very best Orkney produce, in front of a live audience at the Orkney Theatre on the 30th of September.

A panel of expert judges will then decide who will claim the coveted Orkney Amateur Master Chef title. Members of the audience will also get the chance to play their part, with some set to be selected to sample the delicious dishes put together by the contestants.

Orkney Food and Drink's Development Manager, Edgar Balfour, said: "We're delighted to be able to name our four contestants, and we're looking forward to seeing their menus and how they're going to put our excellent Orkney produce to use. It's sure to be an entertaining evening and hopefully people will come along and be inspired by our wide range of quality food and drink."

If you want to see the four entrants put their culinary skills to the test, tickets go on sale on Friday 4th September. They will be available from Argos in Kirkwall, or by phoning 01856 761 430 or emailing orkneyfood@outlook.com. Each ticket will have a seat number, so those bought earlier will have a wider choice of seats.
